Turn your afternoon doodles into a fun wallpaper

 

With my recent textile projects, I thought I would show you an easy illustrator tutorial.
Using Adobe Illustrator, find instructions below;

 
Presuming you can upload a photo and trace or use your freestyle doodles; select all (cmd+a or cntrl+a) Under the menu ‘Object’, find Pattern and then click Make.

Here you can vary the distance, layout and number of tiles. I like the tile type tool as it shifts the tile in various ways, staggering builds a fluid pattern effect. Once you have chosen, click Done, OK.

On a new document or artboard (Shift+o) Draw your area, maybe its a rectangle like above. The idea is that given any dimensions, you can scale this to any product or digital background.  Over to the right or under the Swatches panel, find your new P…

Ta-da! Here we have it! Your doodle turned wallpaper / textile / pattern.  Now you can export as a pdf ( to keep quality rich for printing) or as png/jpeg for web used platforms!Once the original doodles (left) are deleted - your pattern will not be…

Once the original doodles (left) are deleted - your pattern will not be. Double click the swatch (your pattern) to make any edits.
